Wrong.London concessions
Lighting display units designed for Wrong For Hay. August 2016.
Following our design and production of Wrong for Hay exhibition during London Design Week 2015 and Wrong.London’s installation within HAY’s Milan Salone 2016 Pelota exhibition, we were commissioned to develop the cork display concept into a retail concession system for HAY stores and stockists.
We continued the theme of seamless monolithic cork rubber forms established in the previous exhibitions and rationalised key elements into a modular system to suit production and installation by shopfitters.
Each concession comprised of a series of modular wall panels and a display surface on open fronted units for storage and display. A family of plinths and risers displayed the existing lighting range and could be adapted to accommodate new additions to the collection. Pendent lights were hung from a lighting beam which ran above the length of the concession on cylindrical supports cantilevered from the wall panels. A slot detail on the underside of the beam allowed pendents to be installed and moved without marking the surface material. Cabling and power extensions were contained inside the beam and threaded up from behind the wall panels, obscuring the wires and cables from view.
Six standard configurations were offered to stores to suit available shop floor space and products stocked. The displays were shipped in parts for onsite assembly.
