Běla Kolářová table

We were asked by Raven Row to design a display for a collection of very delicate transparencies by artist Bela Kolarova, which required illumination as well as protection from dust, drafts and touching. 

A conventional lightbox seemed visually too heavy for the work and would require a deep table top didn't suit weight of the transparencies. Instead we proposed a simple timber framework table with two glass surfaces spaced slightly apart sandwiching the transparencies and concealed led light strips along the underside of the perimeter. The light shone downwards and reflected upwards off a lower white shelf surface and illuminated the work when the viewer looked over the table.
